LeBron James throws teammates under the bus by calling Cavs ‘top-heavy’

LeBron James’ tone about the season changed Monday night after yet another loss.

“It’s been a s—ty 2017 so far,” he said at his locker after the 124-122 loss to the Pelicans.

Before the game, James said he wasn’t worried about his team’s recent struggles. But after the Cavs’ fifth loss in seven games, James was extremely vocal about the team’s problems.

After his initial locker-room chat with reporters, he apparently spoke to a smaller group of beat writers, where he unloaded on the team’s problems.

“It’s like when you don’t have bodies. It’s tough,” James said, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “The f—ing grind of the regular season. We’re a top-heavy team. We have a top-heavy team. We top-heavy as s—. It’s me, [Kyrie Irving], [Kevin Love]. It’s top-heavy.”

The star player added, “We need a f—ing playmaker.”

Monday brings the rematch between the Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The two teams met in the last two NBA championship, with the Warriors winning in 2015, and the Cavs returning the favor last year. Most recently, Cleveland beat the Warriors in a matchup on Christmas Day.
